Indian Cricket Team: Paper TigersImpotent?

Why do our world class batsmen pee in their pants when they face Shoaib Akthar? Why do they get out to debut seamers like Asif? I am talking about the 'Master' Sachin. What are his contributions to the team in the past couple of years? Let's not get into 'he scored 35 centuries' okay? Right now India is going down in the Karachi Test and Sachin was bowled by Asif. Yes, bowled. And Laxman is another story; how could a classy batsman like him not guard his timber? Saurav got out for 37; a brief display of resilience all right but that's not good enough at the international level. I think we should sack this trio, for good, and fill their slots with youngsters. Enough is enough. Sachin can go to hell. He has not won us any matches in the recent years and he has had too many chances. Throw the old trash out and bring in some fresh blood.
It is time that we, a country of more than a billion people, found ONE good pace bowler. Our seamers looked ordinary compared to the Paki bowlers. I don't believe this!

Its high time India produced fast- i mean really faster- bowlers .probably gotta select people from pakistan border.
And also feel that there shud be some kinda thought put on the future selection of Ganguly,Laxman and even Sachin and I feel riding on past laurels doesnt work any more.

Your post sums it up Suman. But, my feckish brain is skin, flesh and bone bored with the 'paper tigers' term.
My feckish brain is however, not creative.
How about trying to come up with a new term to describe their papery tigerishness?
With Suman's permission, shoot if you have one and afford me a few chuckles to liven up my miserable friday at work.

Hmm...interesting. I don't see a posting from you when the Pak bowling attack looked "impotent" during the ODI series. Your post reads like a TOI/IndExpress headline immediately after a loss. I expected you to close the loop though by having a post that glorifies the Indian team immediately after a win.

well said.. but i would largely place the blame on selectors rather than the players.. if a player of ganguly's stature doesnt get an explanation regarding why he is being dropped or picked for that matter, how do you expect any player to perform without fear? i was totally disgusted with the way they dealt with ganguly.. not that he deserved staying in the team but that he could have been given a proper explanation about why he is being dropped and why he is no longer a part of the teams plan.. i am also annoyed with rahul's silence on this issue all in the name of being diplomatic.. sometimes, u need to speak your mind rather than being silent.. as far as tendulkar is concerned, greg put is succintly that tendulkar will no longer be the player he was in the late 90s but i still think he is good enough to warrant a place in the team.. he may not be the most valuable player but he is a good team player and has the ability to contribute with ball as well as the bat while providing valuable assistance to the skipper.. what do you say?
