IndiBloggies

I am sure a software engineer from some institute like Mangaathha Institute of Technology is behind the scheme and design of this year's IndiBloggies. I hope it is someone I don't know.
I have a question for whoever designed it: dear designer, do you think users like me with the IQ of a physically handicapped, senile Cockroach, will go through your 5-step process and nominate a blog? If the answer is yes, then I am Brad Pitt and Sehwag is not fat.

It'd have made better sense if you had used a survey form.

To rub it in, they have a poll on 'Is this nomination process easy?' It is like saying 'excuse me' before thrusting a stick up my ass. I like the other awards but I don't want to win them. Thank you.

:) It will take few more posts to get convinced that the nomination process really sucked. Frankly, time constraints and a delayed start forced me to go with the same process we had last year.

I agree about the usability aspect here, in any case you are the expert on the subject, but I would like to mention a point here that totally went unnoticed, namely: the data.

Imagine the nomination data being stored on my server, using an easy form for users. Even then, users would have been told to register on my system (and anonymous nomination system would just become a spammers heaven), I say this coz registration at del.icio.us is probably most of the people hated. The data would then rot on my server for a year and probably get deleted the next. What good does it serve? On the contrary, an extra step of registering at del.icio.us (and I am sure most of us already are using the tool) will help push this data to this widely know tool and reach many others who haven't ever heard of Indibloggies or don't even care for that.

I could have gone for a custom form that that submitted the nominations to delicious using their API but I didnt had enough time, if you recall I did solicit help from the community to help me prepare such a tool, nobody replied. And if it's totally left to me alone, then probably its justified that I would do what saves me time and effort and seems good to me.

yeah, using a custom form sounds good. But then again, which user gives a damn about your server and the data on it? Think about it. I am not trying to be rude but I am only telling you the truth: no one cares 'how' it is done; they just want to get it done without too much hassle. Good luck anyway. If you want me to test anything, in the future, you know how to contact me :)
