Did the Americans over-kill on Saddam's Capture?

I don't know if it is just me, but you know, I felt 'sad' when
I saw images of Saddam being captured: an old man that looked older than his age; with a bushy beard; wrinkled face and those eyes - god! Those eyes - that held nothing but an expression of shock; he looked like a boy caught stealing from his mom's kitchen. My mind tells me that I am not being rational in feeling sad for Saddam but then I just can't help it. Now, think about it: How would an Iraqi feel? I don't think the Americans should have aired those images; images of Saddam's teeth being examined. They shouldn't have touched his beard. Shaving an Arab's beard, I heard, is a worst insult that one can dish out to an Arab. I don't know how Dubya and his band of 'wham-bammers' could do something so stupid; something that could possibly neutralize the advantage of having captured Saddam. I am sure 'they' are going show these pictures to unsuspecting young men and scream "look what they did to an Arab leader!" and indoctrinate those young men into a supposedly-holy war. They will use this unwanted media exposure as a tool to brainwash young men. Those young men are going to kill themselves and in the process others, and so on. God forbid!
I would expect a sophisticated administration like that of USA, to show some tact, some poise, in handling something as monumental like Saddam's capture. I pray that this doesn't back-fire. I hope the young men from various countries who are fighting insurgency and helping Iraq to rebuild, get to go home fast. I hope no young man needs to sacrifice his life for a bunch of politicians who are willing to pawn anything for the vote. The next time you fly-down on a secret visit - another PR stunt laced with some risk, all right- Mr. Cowboy Bush, have some decency and visit the young men of 'other' countries that are helping you in your cause.
