My America travelog-1
[November 29, Friday]
Charles de Gaulle amazed me. The Paris airport is according to me an architectural marvel. Don't forget to buy yourself a souvenir from this romantic city, if you're passing through it that is. Charles de Gaulle is pronounced CHAAL - DE- GAAL. That's French if you haven't already figured out
The Atlanta airport is another story. Brace yourself; they have an underground rail road for the airport. If you're going to concourse B from A, take the train sir. An underground rail network just for the airport! Now, I am not gonna pretend that I wasn't overwhelmed; of course I was! I had my jaw open for the better part of the day.

Everything here in America is the 'other way round' for us Indians. The switches for example, the 'off' position for us is 'on' here. They drive on the right here. The other strange thing (at least for me) is that, you can't spill water in the bathroom floor. Yes sir, I said bathroom. I mean there are no outlets for the water to drain. So you bathe in the tub but hey, don't you spill any water anywhere other than the tub and the pot, you will have to mop it up all by yourself. Just like I did.
I fell in love with Walmart - one of the mall chains - here. It is one huge shop floor that offers just about everything. I mean everything! A huge bag of chips costs $2. A nice camera costs $50. Pepsi cans - 6 for $2. A nice jacket costs something like $20 and I thought it was dirt-cheap. And of course all stores have holiday offers. The day-after-thanksgiving clearance sale for one: you get a laptop for $650 - and that's roughly 30000 rupees for you. The sad part is, if you wanna avail of these fantastic offers you gotta be there early morning. I mean as early as 4a.m. I'd pass man, wont give up sleep for anything.

I was told by one of my American teammates that Americans from other states find the South Carolina accent tough. I don't feel bad at all!
There was some noise about how banks in India were not accessible to disabled people; thinking back, I noticed that here in Columbia (as it is across USA I'd assume) almost every organization has special arrangements made for disabled people: doors, parking space... you name it. Now, there's a thing I'd love to copy. I hope someday I can see it happening in India as well, given the number of disabled people we have in our country.
