Phones Need Simplicity Before Cool Stuff, CEOs Say

Mobile telephone services need to be far less confusing to consumers, the heads of top U.S. wireless operators said on Wednesday, even as they talked up complex features such as Web surfing or video on phones. (Via Reuters.com)
About time. I have trouble operating different Nokia brands, leave alone using other phones like Samsung and LG. As I had reiterated before, phones (mobile or not) are first communication devices. Everything else is secondary. Take a look at the ads and TV commercials for mobile phones: they all talk about 'color display' 'polyphonic ringtones' 'broadband'... Nokia which used to make user-friendly phones seemed to have succumbed to the fad. I hope they realize the importance of arriving at an interface standard and make life easier for us poor users.
